Yue Fei

A patriot, poet, field general. Sung Dynasty (1103-1142), born in an era of political, social turmoils and great foreign threats from the North. Yue Fei joined the army at the age of 16 who had the words "serve the nation with boundless loyalty" carved on his back by his mother. Became a hero and symbol of hope. He scored such stunning victories that even his opponents said "it is easier to move a mountain than to defeat a Yue Fei army." At the height of his campaign while securing the northern front, the emperor took ill advice and undermined his effort. Yue Fei was forced to withdraw and soon died in prison. Sung Dynasty was eventually conquered by the Mongolians. This poem was written upon hearing the withdrawal order from the emperor.
